The Oxford parish was founded in 1974 by decree of the Bishop of Western Europe, G. Lawrence, appointing the priest Alexander Munin as parish priest.
Divine services are held once a month in the following places: Oxford, Reading, High Wickham and Bicester. In Bicester, the service of God is held in the chapel, which previously had an iconostasis and was dedicated to St. George the Younger, located in the premises of a military camp. This camp was disbanded in 1978, and the iconostasis was transferred to Donington, parish of Derby. After that, services are held in the Anglican church in Bicester, as is the case in Oxford and Reading.
In High Wickham, services were held in an Anglican church until 1975, when a second Orthodox church in West Wickham was accepted, which housed an iconostasis, obtained from the Birmingham parish.
The Oxford parish priest, Father Aleksandar Munjin, was born on 4 May 1937 in Irig (Srem), where he completed his primary education. He studied at the St. Sava Theological Seminary in the Rakovica Monastery in Belgrade from 1956 to 1961. After completing the seminary, he enrolled at the Faculty of Philology in Belgrade, English Language and Literature. After completing his first degree, he went to Great Britain. He was ordained a deacon by Bishop Matthew on Pentecost 1965 in the Church of St. Trinity in Halifax, and in September of the same year in the church of St. Sava in London by Bishop Firmilian. He was appointed assistant parish priest of London. In 1970 he was appointed temporary parish priest of Bedford parish, and in 1972 assistant parish priest of London. In the same year he graduated from the secondary electrical engineering school at the college in London.
The first and current president of the church community is Mr. Rajko Despotović.
The parish has three circles of Serbian sisters: in Oxford, High Wickham and Reading. The feasts of these societies are celebrated separately in each place. The church feasts in Oxford (Savior’s Day) and in High Wickham (summer St. Nicholas), as well as the St. Sava celebration, are also solemnly celebrated.
